Dental Hygiene

Dental Hygiene
Proper dental hygiene is very important to us here at New York Dental Studio, which is why we encourage all of our patients to pay close attention to their oral health. Oral hygiene not only affects dental health, but the patient’s overall health as well.

With regular home care, our patients can have teeth that are free of debris and bacteria, better smelling breath, and healthier teeth overall. It helps them battle gum disease, infection, and prevents possible procedures as a result of tooth decay.

We recommend the following practices for dental hygiene and periodontal health:
  • Brush their teeth twice a day, for at least two minutes each time.
  • Floss their teeth at least once a day.
  • Use toothpaste and mouthwash that contains fluoride.
  • Eat a healthy diet with minimal snacks and sugar-filled choices.
  • Drink plenty of water and decreasing soda, coffee and wine.
  • Visit us twice a year for a check-up and professional cleaning
With these simple daily practices, patients stand to have a healthier mouth and better overall health. They are taking good care of their teeth in between visits, and seeing us regularly to assess the health of their mouth and provide more education for good dental hygiene. Visit Dr. Brandon Huang in New York, NY to keep your oral health in tip-top shape.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and Onlays
Restorative dental procedures are provided here at New York Dental Studio, which include inlays and onlays. These types of restorative procedures are completed using composite resin, and similar to a partial crown. It is the same basic procedure as fitting a crown, except they do not cover the tooth fully. Patients who want to cover decay or get fillings, have discoloration or staining, or have damage to their tooth from a crack or chip, benefit from inlays and onlays.

Inlays are placed inside the cusp of the tooth, while outlays are on the outside of the tooth. The basic procedure for inlays and onlays in our practice goes as follows:

1. Decayed parts of the tooth are first removed, as well as any infected areas.
2. The tooth is cleaned and sterilized thoroughly.
3. An impression is made of the tooth and sent to a dental lab. Temporary restorations are available.
4. In two weeks, patients return to have the inlay or onlay bonded to their tooth.

If you are in need of inlays or onlays, call our dentist Dr. Brandon Huang at 212-588-1809 to schedule an appointment.

Root Canals

Root Canals
Root canals, while sounding scary, are a necessary procedure for those whose teeth become infected in the nerves. Besides causing pain, infections, if left untreated, can become abscesses, which are much more serious and can involve bone loss in the jaw. Here at New York Dental Studio, Dr. Brandon Huang can relieve your pain with a root canal.

Although root canals do not sound pleasant, they are well worth it to stop your pain and improve your oral health. While there may be a little soreness after the procedure, it is only temporary and usually nothing over-the-counter painkillers cannot take care of.

During a root canal, Dr. Huang removes the infection by applying a local anesthetic to the area and drilling into the tooth to create an opening in the canal. Then he will be able to remove the infected tissue and clean the area. Once the infection has been removed, your tooth will be filled with gutta percha, a sealant, and then fitted with a crown to protect from further infection. The crown also helps improve its appearance.

Once the procedure is complete, you will be able to eat without experiencing pain and sensitivity that comes from heat, cold and biting too hard. If you’re in pain, you don’t need to be. Call 212-588-1809 to schedule an appointment. You can also request and appointment through www.NewYorkDentalStudio.com

Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Need a tooth replaced or restored in full? Here at New York Dental Studio, we provide dental implants to recomplete and enhance our patients’ smiles.  They serve as a realistic and long lasting restorative solution for teeth that have been extracted, accidentally lost or severely damaged.

Dental implants are as close as you can come to turning back the clock on a tooth. They provide a real look and feel that exceeds the results of surface prosthetics like bridges and full dentures. Since dental implants are rooted directly in the jaw, there’s no need for external framework or to modify healthy teeth to serve as support. They also require no special maintenance beyond proper brushing, flossing and regular dental checkups.

Dental implants offer a range of other benefits. To find out if they’re right for you, please arrange a consultation with us here at New York Dental Studio.
