Metal-free Fillings from Dr. Brandon Huang

At New York Dental Studio, Dr. Brandon Huang offers metal-free fillings to restore teeth to normal function without taking away the beauty of the patient’s smile. Unlike amalgam fillings, metal-free fillings match the color of the patient’s teeth and contain no mercury, making them a safe and attractive way to achieve optimum oral health.

The majority of patients and dentists prefer these fillings to mercury amalgam fillings, for both their look and function. Not only are metal fillings dark and noticeable, the can also contract with cold and expand with heat to cause cracks that will let bacteria into the tooth and eventually require further dental work down the line. Tooth-colored, composite fillings, on the other hand, both look natural and feel natural. You won’t even be able to tell that you have a filling!

Metal-free fillings are made of a strong resin composite material that the dentist bonds directly to the surface of the tooth, allowing Dr. Huang to increase its durability and stability. At our practice, we strive to keep as much of the natural tooth structure as possible to prevent fracture, and metal-free, composite fillings help us do that.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and Onlays
Restorative dental procedures are provided here at New York Dental Studio, which include inlays and onlays. These types of restorative procedures are completed using composite resin, and similar to a partial crown. It is the same basic procedure as fitting a crown, except they do not cover the tooth fully. Patients who want to cover decay or get fillings, have discoloration or staining, or have damage to their tooth from a crack or chip, benefit from inlays and onlays.

Inlays are placed inside the cusp of the tooth, while outlays are on the outside of the tooth. The basic procedure for inlays and onlays in our practice goes as follows:

1. Decayed parts of the tooth are first removed, as well as any infected areas.
2. The tooth is cleaned and sterilized thoroughly.
3. An impression is made of the tooth and sent to a dental lab. Temporary restorations are available.
4. In two weeks, patients return to have the inlay or onlay bonded to their tooth.

If you are in need of inlays or onlays, call our dentist Dr. Brandon Huang at 212-588-1809 to schedule an appointment.

White Fillings

White Fillings

Here at New Your Dental Studio, we provide our patients with a safe, beautiful and modern solution to unsightly metal amalgam fillings. White fillings are comprised of metal-free composite resign that is very indistinguishable from natural tooth enamel. They offer a number of benefits for patients who need to fill a cavity or would like to update old amalgam fillings, including:

  • Structural integrity that doesn’t expand or contract in response to hot and cold temperatures. This minimizes tooth sensitivity and the possibility of breakage.

  • A discreet and versatile appearance that allows them to be used even in highly visible part of the mouth.

  • A less invasive filling process that typically requires less of the tooth structure to be removed.

If you are ready to update your old fillings, or you suspect you may have a cavity that’s in need of care, arrange an appointment with us here at New Your Dental Studio and learn more about what our white filling capabilities can do for you.
